Until now, the developments carried out in Stylo have always been thought of as ending with a stable production version of an instance of Stylo hosted by Huma-Num.
\n
During this workshop, we identified another need, that of being able to prototype new functionalities -- in particular in relation to language models and artificial intelligence algorithms -- to be tested in other instances of Stylo that we could consider as sandboxes rather than as essential instances to be maintained since they are shared by a community of users.
\n
A set of specifications has therefore been drawn up to distinguish between a ‘stable’ production chain and a ‘sandbox’ production chain for prototyping new functionalities that we could, if necessary, integrate into Stylo's ‘stable’ production chain, according to the needs expressed by users.
\n
This process will make it possible to distinguish between two types of development, both those of the stable instance, which continues to be improved as indicated by the work on redesigning the metadata section in the text editor or the improvement of document corpus exports; but also those of the sandboxes where we will try to generate keywords automatically from the text contained in the text editor or to create graphical representations from the bibliographic references in the corpora.
\n
The workshop was organized by Roch Delannay and Antoine Fauchié.
",

"title": "Colloquium Human Beings and Machines: Stabilising and Destabilising Boundaries",
"content_html": "
« What is a machine? What is a human being? Is there a clear, stable boundary between the two? The many discussions about AI have recently renewed interest in these questions, which have haunted us for centuries. It would seem that in our relationship with machines, in the way we define and understand them, and above all in the way we identify how they are different from us, our very essence is at stake. As human beings, we define ourselves in opposition to machines. This symposium aims to question this demarcation line by challenging the oppositions between human and machine, artificial and natural, quantifiable and non-quantifiable, calculable and non-calculable. »
Tuesday April 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Italian time), the conference Human Beings and Machines: Stabilizing and Destabilizing Boundaries will take place. It is organized by Carla Canullo, Tiberio Uricchio and Marcello Vitali-Rosati. Several members of the chair will present: Giulia Ferretti, Margot Mellet and Marcello Vitali-Rosati!
Accessible in person at Università di Macerata, aula Omero Proietti. Via Garibaldi 20, third floor or via videoconference.
",
