Memory and Archive

Edit lead

Given that the digital sphere celebrates archives (it digitizes them and makes them accessible to all; it ceaselessly multiplies them), there is a fine line between a hyper- and an anti-memory. The exhaustive conservation of traces paradoxically confines us to oblivion by freeing us from the responsibility of remembering, when we do not demand a “right to forget.”
